In the event that your business experiences a freezing situation, flooding, a burst pipe, or other water-related incidents, you may need to close temporarily while you try to fix the problem. In such a case, it also means lost revenue for you. These damages can also result in structural damage and mold growth, which are expensive problems. The following are useful tips how to protect one of your biggest investments, which is your business, from water damage. Inspect Drainage And Gutters
The debris and leaves that enter your downspouts and gutters can damage the walls of your business structure if there is water damage. Make sure to have a professional inspect your drainage system, downspouts, and gutters on a regular basis. Clear out any accumulation of debris. This will help ensure that the water is draining properly Repair Gaps And Cracks To prevent warm air from escaping your building and stop the cold air from entering, there should not be any gaps, holes, or cracks in the foundation and exterior walls. If you see any of these problems, seal them immediately. You can minimize the occurrence of frozen pipes by using sealants, weather stripping, and caulking. Insulate Your Pipes If the exposed pipes in your business establishment are poorly insulated, it could lead to cold drafts or plummeting temperatures due to freezing water inside. You can prevent your pipes from freezing by insulating them properly. Use more insulation to protect the pipes much better. Clean The Roof The roof of your business building is likely to accumulate ice and snow. This can make the roofing materials to weaken. To reduce the risk of structural damage, remove ice and ice from the roof regularly. Your roof has a load-bearing capability. Make sure it does not carry a load that is more than its weight limit. Maintain Heat Levels It is advisable not to set your thermostat below 50 degrees. Make sure it stays that way even when on weekends. There is no need to make big changes in the temperature during daytime and nighttime. Doing this increases the risk of your pipes to freeze. Conclusion Should you experience water damage, make sure your business is protected with the right insurance coverage. I think it's helpful that you mentioned how you can prevent your pipes from becoming frozen by ensuring that they are properly insulated. My wife and I have been thinking about opening a restaurant this spring, but we have noticed that the constant snowstorms in our area prevented water from coming out of our faucets. Maybe we should think about finding a plumbing service that can help us deal with our frozen pipes.

I was not aware that it is recommended to inspect your drainage system to prevent water damage in your home. My wife and I moved to our first house but we don't know how to keep it in good shape during the storm season. I will make sure to contact a damage contractor to help us with our problems.
